Simply put, Melanin Month is a month for people around the world to celebrate the beauty, culture, creativity and diversity found within melanin-rich communities.

Melanin is the natural pigment that gives our skin, hair and eyes much of their color. People with melanin-rich skin come from many different backgrounds, cultures and parts of the world.

Melanin Month brings those communities together — not as one culture, but as many cultures sharing one month of celebration.

During November, people can participate however they choose:

• Meet new people

• Explore different cultures

• Enjoy food and music

• Support businesses and creators

• Attend local events

• Share art and creativity

• Learn about different traditions

• Host a meetup

• Or simply celebrate with friends and family
