“What actually happens during Melanin Month?”
Melanin Month is a month-long worldwide celebration built around local experiences.
Throughout November, people can participate in different ways in their own cities. You might basically meet new people over dinner, attend a cultural event, support a local business, join a scavenger hunt, discover food from another culture, visit an art experience, or simply gather with others and connect.
The biggest shared moment happens on Saturday, November 14 — Global Melanin Meetup Day.
On that day, people around the world will be informed and encouraged to meet locally at restaurants, cafés, lounges and community spaces to celebrate and appreciate the melanin-rich cultures of the world. Some meetups may have a local organizer, while others may simply have a designated Melanin Meetup table or area (at a restaurant etc.) where people can arrive, eat, talk and meet one another.
You do not have to travel to participate.
Your city in your country becomes part of the celebration.
